"Fisher’s 2005 Chardonnay Whitney’s Vineyard reveals good minerality in its Chablis-like notes of lemon zest, crushed rocks, orange blossom, and nectarines. A chalky component and good, crisp acidity are also present in this effort. The oak is kept well in the background." (WA)

"Light yellow. Intensely spiced orange and pear on the nose, with a hint of tarragon. Focused citrus and orchard fruit flavors show good energy and fill out nicely with air, finishing fleshy and sweet. Whitney Fisher told me that the grapes here were harvested into October. I tasted this and the Mountain Estate chardonnay just prior to bottling." (IWC)

Winery Notes
Planted by Fred and Juelle Fisher in 1975, the Whitney's Vineyard is located on a small gravelly hillside with a gently sloping southwestern exposure. Today, the St. George rootstock budded to old Wente clone Chardonnay produces extremely low yields with tremendous quality. This Mountain Estate vineyard was named after Fred and Juelle's first daughter, Whitney, who was born shortly after planting. Since then, the Whitney's Vineyard has consistently produced small berries that express their mountain heritage with mineral undertones and uniquely concentrated fruit flavors.

Tasting Notes
The 2005 Whitney's Vineyard is alluring with exotic aromas of lemon curd, passion fruit, orange blossom and ripe pear with nuanced notes of nutmeg. The palate is characterized by a smooth, creamy entry tempered with unique natural acidity on the mid palate that allows the fresh fruit flavors to take center stage, and persists through the finish, culminating with flavors of fig and almond.
