MONSTER PRICE REDUCTION, THEY ARE FINALLY GETTING REAL!!

70% Corvina/Corvinone; 20% Rondinella; 5% Croatina; 5% Oseleta

"Lightly chewy tannins and aromatic subnotes of pencil shavings, dried thyme and smoke support flavors of candied cherry, licorice string, dried cranberry and bresaola. This is supple overall, and the tannins provide modest structure to the creamy finish. Best from 2014 through 2022. 200 cases imported." (WS)

"Romano Dal Forno’s 2006 Valpolicella Superiore is dark, rich and powerful. Firm yet well-integrated tannins frame black cherries, mocha, licorice and spices in this deep, broad-shouldered wine. The 2006 boasts tons of depth and richness in a sophisticated, sleek style. I was quite surprised to see the 2006 drink well with just a few hours of air. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2018." (WA)

“Romano Dal Forno applies the same stringent quality standards on his so-called base wine as he does his top-tier Amarone. But referring to this Valpolicella Superiore as a “base wine” couldn’t be more incorrect. In fact, this singular expression occupies its very own category in which the utmost attention is paid to the smallest details. It opens with dark, inky concentration and amazing intensity, with black cherry, barbecue spice, leather and tobacco." (WE)

Winery Notes:
A big, burly red, with lots of charred oak and smoky bacon character coloring the rich, ripe crushed berry fruit. Hints of flowers and black cardamom add to the complexity. Full-bodied, with well-poised, velvety tannins that capture the flavors and drive them through the long finish.
