LAST CALL!!
ONE OF THE GREAT WINES FROM THE REGION, EXTREMELY LIMITED!
"This alluring red packs a lot of flavor into a plush texture, with boysenberry, floral, cinnamon, licorice and smoke notes. Firm, fresh and balanced, with a long, focused finish. Drink now through 2017. 500 cases imported." (WS)
"The 2007 Termanthia is, like the 2007 Numanthia, a bit more accessible than its 2006 counterpart. That is to say that it should begin to become civilized with a mere 6-8 years of cellaring and should offer a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2037.
Bodegas Numanthia-Termes was sold by the Eguren family to Moet-Hennessey prior to the 2006 vintage. What this might ultimately mean for quality or style of the wine remains to be seen but there is no questioning the performance of the 2006 and 2007 vintages." (WA)
"($200) Glass-staining purple. Exotic, pungent scents of cherry-cola, potpourri and white pepper, plus a sexy note of sandalwood. Very fresh in the mouth, with intense, floral-accented black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter and spicier with aeration. Blends vivacity and power smoothly, finishing with nervy mineral cut and a lingering note of spicecake. Like the Numanthia, this looks like it will drink well young and age well on its balance rather than power. (Moet Hennessy USA, New York NY)" (IWC)
"Dark, condensed and inky, with big, muscular aromas of charcoal, cassis liqueur, blackberry and tar. The palate is just lush enough despite being staunch and tannic, and the flavors of black fruit and cassis are luscious and sweet, with a bit of lemony oak adding zest. Drink from 2011 through 2015." (WE)
Winery Notes:
"Extremely rich and complex, the nose is a gushing palette of lively dark fruits and delicate liquorice, truffle, balsamic and spices notes, perfectly integrated with subtle toasty and roasted characters. It starts with an impressive velvety, round and delicious entrance, then the sensation of volume on the palate grows even more perfectly balanced with concentrated, firms and silky tannins, for a sensation of both weight and liveliness."
This historic vineyard “Teso los Carriles” located in the remote village of
Argujillo in the D.O. Toro was planted with ungrafted vines in the second half of
the 19th century. The 4.78 hectares (11.04 acres) plot, at an altitude of 800 m
(2,625 ft) above sea level, has sandy soil with a large deposit of fine gravel on
the surface. The harvest in the year 2004 yielded 8 Hl/Acre.
Only the cleanest and most mature bunches are chosen after an exhaustive
selection process and there is an additional very rigorous selection of every
grape at the winery when the bunches are destemmed by hand. The grape
must undergoes a cold pre-fermentative maceration during 5 days and is
fermented during 10 days in French oak vats of 528.5 gal and in 5 oak barrels
of 132.12 gal with an extended maceration during 18 days with a gentle
remontage. The wine, after having malolactic fermentation in 100% new
French oak Bordelaise barriques, is transferred to different 100% new French
oak Bordelaise barriques where it will age for 20 months and racked every 4
months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. |
