Generous and convincing, ripe and rich, this Chardonnay might seem to be strictly "old school" save for the firming acidity that brings it into comfortable balance while still allowing the wine to be the most well-stuffed bottling found in this set of tastings. Hold this one for service alongside complex, flavorful dishes like Lobster Newburg or a savory seafood stew with Brazilian or Sicilian influences. Reviewed: October 2011" (CG)

Winery Notes:
Newton’s Unfiltered Chardonnay is a distinctive wine best served at a temperature between 55 and 60 degrees. This optimal tempering enhances the full sensory experience of smell, taste and texture.

The 2008 Unfiltered Chardonnay has an inviting straw hue. This wine opens with a bright nose of fresh fruit and floral aromas of honey blossom that lead to earthy bread dough and hazelnut. Pear, melon and fig are introduced on the palate with balanced acidity and creaminess. Layers of brown sugar add to the complexity of flavors that end with a long, complex finish hints of toasted oak and butterscotch.
