"A very mild hint of sulfur still allows the ripe yellow orchard fruit, mineral notes and soft floral hints to shine. The rich, intense, full-bodied and driving medium-bodied flavors possess an abundance of acid-buffering extract that also confers a seductive texture to the strikingly persistent finish. This beauty is impeccably well-balanced and should reward 4 to 6 years of cellar time." (BH)

Winery Notes:
Jean-Marc comes from a family of vignerons and married Claudine Gagnard in 1980 of Domaine Gagnard-Delagrange to start cultivating their 14 Acres including Grands Crus Batard-Montrachet, Criots Batard-Montrachet and Montrachet. He stresses the importance of making “vins de garde” meaning wines with sufficient depth and structure to age well. Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, the Domaine produces textbook whites, sharply defined, generally on the richer side, but with a careful balance of constituents that are essential to proper ageing. The reds only use 10-year old white wine oak, in order to enhance finesse rather than adding more harshness with new casks.
