"Note: 100% from vines in Aloxe and all domaine fruit

Producer note:
Louis-Fabrice Latour and winemaker Jean-Charles Thomas told me that 2009 is an "excellent vintage that should be extremely popular. It's ripe, the acids are average to slightly below average and thus the wines will be more accessible young. However, they should age well too because there is reasonably good concentration and the supporting phenolics are quite ripe. Because of the elevated levels of ripeness we elected to start bottling in November to preserve as much freshness as possible. The wines were already drinking well and we didn't see anything further to be gained by leaving them in cask." Latour went on to observe that he prefers 2009 to 1999 as he believes that it is more consistent. (Louis Latour, Inc./Ltd., www.louislatour.com, US, UK, France).

Tasting note:
" A discreet touch of wood sets off aromas of dried rose petal, lemon grass and green apple that precede rich, full and obviously well-muscled big-bodied flavors that possess an intense minerality on the powerful, driving and palate staining finish that delivers simply terrific persistence. This imposing effort is most impressive and should offer up to a decade of potential improvement." (BH)

"Powerful, concentrated and intense, this wine rolls around the mouth in its rich opulence. The ripest of sweet apricot and pear fruits join buttery toast just laced with acidity." (WE)

Winery Notes:
Tasting Note
A beautiful gold colour worthy of grands crus with pungent aromas of grilled almonds. Rich in the mouth with oaky notes present. All elements come together to make this great 09 Corton-Charlemagne, which is promising today but will be even bigger in a few years. One must be patient! Tasted November 2010.

Vinification
Barrel fermented with 100% malolactic fermentation, 8 to 12 months ageing in new oak casks.

Description
After the ravages of the phylloxera aphid at the end of the 19th century it was the Latour family that took the now-celebrated decision to tear up the dead Aligoté and Pinot Noir vines and to replace them with Chardonnay. The vineyard is situated in the prime area of the hillside of Corton where its southeasterly aspect ensures maximum exposure to the sun. The fruit is harvested as late as possible to guarantee maximum ripeness.
